About the Author
Hello. My name is Tom Carmichael, and I am a bridge-aholic.
Since my first bridge tournament at the age of 10, I have played this game in 8 different countries spanning 4 continents. From 1995 to 1999 I represented the United States in World Junior (under 26) competitions, my best results being 2nd in the World Junior Team Championships in 1999 and 3rd in the World Junior Individual in 1998.
Domestically, in 1997 I became one half of the youngest pair ever to win a North American Bridge Championship (NABC) event with my junior partner, Joel Wooldridge. In the summer of 2005, my team came in 2nd in the Spingold Teams - the premier event of the Summer NABC. (Joel wasn’t my partner for this one, but he was one of my teammates.)

Far more important than any result in any tournament I’ve ever played are the enduring friendships that bridge has brought me over the years. Bridge has shaped my life to a degree that I cannot imagine what it would be like without it. If I can share in even a small fraction of the joy this game has brought me, I have achieved my goals in writing this weblog.
